Our History

Extreme Flight RC was founded in 2002 by Chris Hinson, who had a vision to produce the best quality balsa ARF aerobatic aircraft the world had ever seen. Chris persevered through many challenges, seeking out the best producers and factories in the Far East who could bring his vision to reality.

Partnering with a premium factory and agreeing on standards of utmost quality, production of the first Extreme Flight ARF aircraft began. The 45" Extra 300 and the 47" Yak 54 electric aircraft took the world by storm, shocking pilots with light weight and incredible performance. Extreme Flight giant scale aircraft quickly built a reputation for quality and performance, with the 88" Yak 54 and Extra 300 gaining wide recognition in the RC industry.

Chris and Melissa grew Extreme Flight in Cumming, Georgia, moving to successively larger buildings as sales expanded. Curtis Cozier, Blair Underwood, Zach Havener and others contributed their work to the growing company over the years.

New aircraft multiplied, in sizes from 48" to 125", and Extreme Flight began its tradition of winning in the world of aerobatics. Taking victories over the years at the World Air Games, Tucson Shootout, XFC, French XFC, and many other contests, Extreme Flight aircraft have proven to be the best of the best.

Merging in 2015 with 3DHobbyShop brought Ben Fisher onboard as Technical Director, and merging in 2022 with Northwest RC brought Tim Hanstine on as General Manager. Keith Stratton became fulfillment manager, Antonio de Souza joined as customer service manager, and Sarah Hanstine became Office Manager.

In 2022 Extreme Flight became the American distributor of Skywing RC aircraft, adding these high quality products to the lineup. In 2023, Extreme Flight became American distributor of T-Motor Fixed Wing products, and began to produce the RxR line of aircraft, the first receiver-ready airplanes produced by Extreme Flight.

Chris and Melissa retired in 2023, and the team carries forward in the spirit of their goal at the founding of Extreme Flight - to build the highest quality, highest performance ARF aerobatic aircraft in the world.
